Stephen Barker Liles, of Love and Theft, is mourning the death of his mom. Susie Barker Liles Burchett died Nov. 5 after battling ALS for nearly three years.

“The love from the country music and ALS community has been overwhelmingly comforting to me and my family,” Liles said. “We are so grateful for all artists that have donated their time at our events to help raise awareness for this devastating disease. Her memory will live on in all of our hearts and in our ALS charity forever.”
It’s not just Liles that is feeling the loss. The country music community loved Burchett and some even considered her a “mother.” She always invited industry friends to their holidays and family get-togethers because she never wanted anyone to spend a holiday alone.
Services will be Nov. 11 at a church in Clarksville. They’ll remember her with a visitation, service and a fellowship meal. Canaan Smith and Lauren Coplan will sing during the service.
“Lights that burn bright never burn out. She made her mark on me through her unwavering faith in Jesus. I’ll always remember and cherish her kindness to me and my family,” Smith says. “Her prayers will live on and not return void. God bless you, sweet Susie. Time to go dancing with the angels.”
Our hearts go out to Liles, his sister Rebekah Liles (Curb | Word Entertainment Director of Country A&R) and their other siblings as well as all of Burchett’s family and friends.
