Coti Howell for Nashville Noise

I’ll be honest: I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from The Sicilian Butcher.

Maybe it’s because it’s part of a larger restaurant group, and sometimes you can tell when you’re eating at a concept with multiple locations. But that wasn’t my experience here. From the first bite, the food tasted fresh, generous, and genuinely cared about. By the end of the meal, I was already mentally planning what I’d order the next time.

The menu also gets refreshed regularly, which gives you another reason to come back and see what’s new. But even with all of the different dishes coming out of the kitchen, what stood out most to me was how fresh everything tasted.

And then there was the hospitality.

Everyone we encountered was warm and welcoming. Not just polite because they’re working in a restaurant. They were all actually friendly, attentive, and seemed happy to be there. That made the whole experience feel relaxed and fun, which is exactly what I want when I’m going out for Italian food.

And, of course, there was plenty of food to love.

Come Hungry

Let’s start with the Italian sodas, because these were way more fun than your standard restaurant drink.

The Almond Cream had a subtle hint of lemon that kept it from feeling overly sweet. The Strawberry was refreshing, delicious, and perfectly balanced, while the Black Cherry had just a hint of vanilla with that unmistakable black cherry flavor coming through. None of them were syrupy or overwhelmingly sweet, which made them an easy pairing with everything else we ordered.

And if there’s one thing The Sicilian Butcher is absolutely not stingy with, it’s fresh Parmesan.

As someone who believes there is basically no such thing as too much Parmesan, I appreciated this immensely.

The East Coast Stuffed Pepper was the first dish we tried, and this is definitely one I’d recommend sharing. It’s packed with spicy sausage and covered in an incredible sauce, with plenty of fresh Parmesan on top. There’s a definite kick, but the spice works with the dish rather than overpowering it.

Then came the pizza.

The Hot Sicilian Pizza with sausage was, in a word, insane.

The combination of sausage, cheese, fresh arugula, and hot honey just works. The hot honey adds the perfect little touch of sweetness and heat, while the cheese brings everything together. There’s also just enough spice to keep things interesting, although I would not call it hot. And the fresh arugula adds a little brightness to the whole thing. It also comes with scissors for cutting, which is a fun touch.

But if I had to pick the dish that transported us somewhere else entirely, it would be the Amalfi Gold. This seafood pasta genuinely made us feel like we should be sitting on a beach somewhere in Italy instead of Nashville.

The dish gave off seafood linguine vibes, with plenty of fresh seafood and a very mild hint of spice that adds flavor without overwhelming the dish. The shrimp were particularly impressive. They were perfectly cooked with that slight crunch you want from a good shrimp, rather than being overcooked or rubbery. And the portion is generous, too.

A Parking Tip You Should Know

Here’s one little detail that can make a Nashville dinner out much easier: The Sicilian Butcher validates parking for up to two hours in the parking garage. Because parking can turn a great Nashville dinner into an unnecessary headache, knowing you can get your parking validated is a definite win.

After a meal this good, the last thing you want to be doing is trekking for your parking spot.

The Verdict

What I appreciated most about our meal at The Sicilian Butcher was that it didn’t feel like we were sacrificing freshness or hospitality for the convenience of a larger restaurant concept. The food felt fresh. The portions were generous. The menu gave us plenty of variety, and the staff genuinely made us feel welcome from beginning to end.

And with the menu regularly changing, there’s even more reason to go back and try something new the next time you’re craving Italian. Between the Hot Sicilian Pizza, the Amalfi Gold, the East Coast Stuffed Pepper, and those Italian sodas, we left with a pretty long list of things we’d happily order again.
