The 2017 CMT Music Awards are Moving to a New Venue

The 2017 CMT Music Awards are moving… to a new venue! Due to the success of the Nashville Predators, the show will leave Bridgestone Arena.

This year’s awards won’t be at the home of the Nashville Predators because the Preds are in the NHL playoffs! While that’s good news for Nashville and Preds fans, it means the awards will need a new home. The 2017 CMT Music Awards are set for June 7 and this year will move to Music City Center.

“The Bridgestone Arena — that is the Predators’ home and nobody’s more excited than everybody involved with the CMT Music Awards to think the Predators might actually need their home on that night,” awards show host Charles Esten told The Tennessean. “This is not anything that anyone is upset about. We’ll more than make it work.”

The awards this year will be stacked — as they always are. Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Brett Eldredge are all slated to perform. Even though the lineup is hot, fans may be worried about the venue change. Music City Center is smaller than Bridgestone Arena so fewer fans will be in attendance but that may be the only difference.

CMT President Brian Philips told The Tennessean that no one will notice anything different on TV. He also mentioned that the outdoor performances will still be just as rockin’. Those aren’t going anywhere!

Tune into the 2017 CMT Music Awards live on June 7 at 7PM on CMT.
