‘The Wizard of Oz’ Follows the Yellow Brick Road to Nashville’s TPAC

“The Wizard of Oz” will follow the yellow brick road to Nashville’s TPAC in 2019.

The popular family musical lands in Music City at Jackson Hall from Feb. 8 through Feb. 10. This limited-engagement show is a celebration of the 1939 MGM Movie. It will include breathtaking special effects from the moment the tornado hits until the cast lands in Oz.

“The Wizard of Oz” includes Harold Arlen’s classic songs that everyone knows and loves. “Over the Rainbow,” “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” and “If I Only Had a Brain” are just a few of those. The show is perfect for the whole family and will captivate audiences young and old.

Katherine Walker Hill, of Crossville, joins the cast as Aunt Em/Glinda in the production. She has been in regional productions of “White Christmas,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “The Drowsy Chaperone,” “A Chorus Line” and “Anything Goes.”

The team of Dean Sobon and Amy McCleary will take Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow “over the rainbow” to adventures in Munchkin Land, the Haunted Forest and the Emerald City. Sobon, who created previous national tours of “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” served as director for the production. McCleary did the choreography for the show and she previously worked on national tours of “Memphis” and “The Wedding Singer.”

Tickets for “The Wizard of Oz” go on sale Nov. 9 at 10 AM on TPAC’s website. You can also get your tickets by calling (615) 782-4040 or by visiting the TPAC box office.
