Avenue Beat is Sami Bearden, Savana Santos and Sam Backoff. They’re the trio behind “F2020.” Yeah, you know the song. It went viral after they uploaded it to TikTok, garnering over 16 million views and then became a radio hit. The song was their way of dealing with this year so they worked on every aspect of the track together — while in quarantine.
I had a few minutes to Zoom with Avenue Beat and we discussed the song, what it’s like to have Will Smith know who you are and which artists Bearden, Santos and Backoff want to collaborate with. I also just had to ask about the hangovers following all those Jell-O shots (they were as bad as you think).
