There are some restaurants you try because everyone keeps talking about them, and then there are restaurants that actually live up to the hype. Turkey and the Wolf Icehouse in East Nashville somehow manages to do both.
From the moment we walked in, the space felt fun in a way that a lot of trendy restaurants try very hard to achieve but rarely pull off naturally. The patio stays a comfortable 75 degrees year round, making outdoor seating enjoyable even on warmer Nashville afternoons. Inside and around the bar area, retro details are everywhere: vintage-style decor, old-school McDonald’s glasses and plates, and even movies playing on a VCR that instantly transport you back to the ‘90s. The entire place just feels like good vibes.
But let’s get to the real reason for this article: the bologna sandwich.
After asking for recommendations, Grant immediately pointed us toward the sandwich. The sandwich layers bologna with sauce and potato chips that add the perfect salty crunch. It somehow manages to feel nostalgic, indulgent, messy, and elevated all at once. Every bite works. It’s the kind of sandwich you think about hours later… and then again the next day. We’re officially prepared to call it the best bologna sandwich in Nashville.
The fries deserve their own mention, too. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and impossible to stop eating, they’re absolutely worth ordering alongside the sandwich. Or any sandwich you choose.
Beyond the bologna, the rest of the menu impressed across the board. The burger was described by Grant as “what I thought a Big Mac was as a kid,” which ended up being the perfect explanation. It delivers that nostalgic fast-food flavor profile but in a fresher, more satisfying way.
The lamb roti was another standout. It was topped with pulled lamb, cucumbers, and tzatziki. It tasted incredibly fresh while still being packed with flavor, offering something lighter but still memorable alongside the richer sandwich options.
Between the food, atmosphere, hospitality, and overall creativity, it’s easy to understand why Turkey and the Wolf Icehouse has become one of East Nashville’s most talked-about spots. More importantly, it’s a place that actually makes you want to come back immediately after leaving.
