When a refrigerated truck spoiled 650 turkeys on the morning of Tracy Lawrence’s 20th Annual Mission: Possible Turkey Fry, Nashville’s generosity turned potential disaster into a heartwarming success. What began as a goal to serve 36,000 meals quickly became a community-wide effort, resulting in 5,350 turkeys cooked and frozen, ultimately providing 50,000+ meals to people in need across Middle Tennessee.
Lawrence, a country music icon and philanthropist, rallied the Nashville community, with local artists and volunteers stepping in to replace the lost turkeys. Celebrities including Tucker Wetmore, Meghan Patrick, Jamey Johnson, Dustin Lynch, and Charles Esten joined the effort.
Monetary donations remain open through the Nashville Rescue Mission. A canned food drive will also take place, with participants entered to win a signed guitar featuring signatures from top country artists.
Since its inception, Mission: Possible has fried over 15,000 turkeys, provided more than 135,000 meals, donated over $1 million to Nashville Rescue Mission, and raised over $2.5 million to support aligned charitable causes.
