Third Eye Blind brought their Summer Gods Tour to Nashville on Thursday night. Despite wrapping early to appease downtown residents, the show didn’t disappoint.
Third Eye Blind played downtown’s Ascend Amphitheater last night and it was a trip down memory lane for 3eb fans. They played their entire debut album from start to finish — but Stephan Jenkins admitted he wanted to do more. Before the encore performance of “God of Wine,” he mentioned that they were forced to wrap up by 10PM because of complaints in Nashville.
The 52-year-old suggested that if downtown Nashville dwellers can’t take the sounds of Music City, they should head to the suburbs. That was met with loud applause from the fans that didn’t want the night to end. That’s when Jenkins promised to return to Nashville soon and to “play all night.”
Third Eye Blind took the Ascend stage at 8:30PM. Jenkins and his bandmates were hidden behind a sheer curtain during their intro, with the curtain dramatically dropping as the song sped up. They played a few tracks before eventually playing Third Eye Blind from start to finish.
When Jenkins finally introduced his pals as Third Eye Blind from California he said, “It is not lost on us that we are in Nashville. We better throw the f*** down.” And throw down is just what they did.
The Summer Gods Tour runs through late July. Full tour dates are listed on the band’s website. Missed the Nashville show? Check out highlights from the Music City stop below.
