Taylor Swift took to Instagram Live on Thursday (June 13) to announce some big news. Her upcoming album is called Lover and she described the 18-track record as “romantic.” That’s more songs than she’s ever had on one album before. Fans can expect the lengthy pop record to drop on Aug. 23.
On Instagram donning her signature red lip, Swift announced the album news and a brand new single. “You Need to Calm Down” is the album’s second single and it drops at midnight tonight. After that, the music video will premiere on Good Morning America, followed by YouTube, on Monday (June 17).
Shortly after her Instagram live ended, Swift shared the gorgeous album artwork. The cover was created by Valheria Rocha, who the pop singer describes as a “creative genius.”
The 29-year-old also said she also has a collaboration with her friend, Stella McCartney. She wouldn’t reveal details on the collab just yet but did say that it aligns with, and was inspired by, her forthcoming album.
Stay tuned for more from this brand new Swift era.
Swift’s Lover has already set a new Apple Music record (and it’s not even out yet!). The record is officially the most pre-added album by a female artist ever on Apple Music in the first day with 178.6K Pre-Adds worldwide. It also set the record for the most pre-added pop album in its first day worldwide.
