Studio Tenn is celebrating a milestone with their 10th season under the direction of Interim Artist Director Benji Kern and Managing Director Todd Morgan. The 2019/2020 season honors female artists and entertainers who have shaped today’s industry.
This forthcoming season includes some of Broadway’s biggest hits and some sure crowd pleasers. They’ll put on productions of Mamma Mia, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Steel Magnolias, Studio Tenn Legacy Series and 9 to 5: The Musical.
Mamma Mia kick starts the 2019/2020 season. The Abba-filled musical runs from Aug. 16 to Sept. 8. The feel-good show includes music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. It’s based on the book by Catherine Johnson and was originally conceived by Judy Crayer.
Next up is Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella with music by Richard Rodgers and the lyrics and original book by Oscar Hammerstein II. The new book is by Douglas Carter Beane. This one runs from Dec. 6 through Dec. 29 and is a perfect family holiday event!
Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling, starts on Feb. 7 and runs through Feb. 16. It’s the beloved story about how hope, healing and even a little humor can exist in the midst of heartache.
One of our favorite Studio Tenn events is the Studio Tenn Legacy Series. This happens March 26 through March 29. Stay tuned to hear who the company chooses to honor during this season. See more about their past legacy events here.
On May 8, 9 to 5: The Musical starts. The show, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, runs through May 25. The book was written by Patricia Resnick and Robert Greenblatt originally produced it.
