Stella Parton is celebrating five decades in entertainment by releasing her 40th studio album. Survivor drops on March 29 but we’ve got the exclusive premiere of her discussing the album’s seventh track, “Dirty Rotten Dog.”
In the video, Parton dons a blue dress and studded stilettos to talk about the song. As the title would suggest, “it’s supposed to be a funny song.” She says that with a smile on her face because many people think of her as “very shy and reserved and kind of a loner.” This song shows a very different side to the music industry veteran.
The song came to fruition when Parton was messing around with her guitar and a cup of coffee one morning. It all started with the riff and she wrote the lyrics to the song in about 30 minutes.
“It’s probably one of the most fun songs on the album. No, it is not about real dogs. It’s about a few of the men I’ve known,” she says with a laugh.
