Sept 24: What to Watch This Weekend

Between movie theaters, VOD, Redbox, Netflix and the rest of the streaming platforms, a lot of content dropped this week. I went through and found some of the best options you can watch this weekend.

    Belcourt

    The Eyes of Tammy Faye

After a limited release in theaters last week, The Eyes of Tammy Faye comes to the Belcourt this week. Witness Jessica Chastain fully immerse herself as Tammy Faye in what some people are saying is the best performance of the year.

    In Theaters

    Dear Evan Hansen

Another Broadway Musical turned movie is out this week! This time, it’s the very popular Dear Evan Hansen. Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Ben Platt reclaims his role as the anxious high school student (Evan Hansen) but this time it’s on the big screen. Since its release, the film has been met with an assortment of reviews.

    Netflix

    Midnight Mass

From the creator of The Haunting of Hill House, comes a deep in-depth look at religion in a small town. Although the show starts off slow, it’s definitely worth watching. My full review is here.

    VOD

    Hudson

This one is a Nashville Noise favorite! It’s the feel-good flick you don’t want to miss this weekend. IMDB: “On a journey to scatter his mother’s ashes, a reclusive and timid man encounters unexpected friendships and a chance to start living his life.”

    Redbox

    F9: The Fast Saga

The latest installment in the Fast and the Furious franchise finally makes its way onto the small screen. Dom and the family are back, but this time with a big twist, Dom’s brother (yes, he has an unknown brother) Jakob (John Cena) has been hired to take him down. Where does the film rank in the franchise for me? Check out my rankings here.
