Sept. 11: What to Watch This Weekend

Between movie theaters, VOD, Redbox, Netflix and the rest of the streaming platforms, a lot of content has dropped this week. I went through and found some of the best options you can watch this weekend.

    Redbox

    Retaliation (Sept. 8)

Orlando Bloom stars in this film where he’s now an adult who’s confronting his childhood sexual abuse.

    Mighty Oak (Sept. 8)

In this one, Janel Parrish plays Gina. Gina lost her brother in a car accident and, after, she meets a guitar prodigy. She’s convinced he’s her reincarnated brother and wants to get their band back together.

    Netflix

The Babysitter: Killer Queen (Season 1 — Sept. 10)

If you’re looking for a series to binge over the weekend, check out The Babysitter: Killer Queen on Netflix.

Julie and the Phantoms (Sept. 10)

According to Netflix, “Julie lost her passion for music when she lost her mom. But when three ghostly guys appear and lift her spirits, they decide to start a band together!”

    The Duchess (Season 1 — Sept. 11)

In this series, a single mom is contemplating having a second child with her estranged baby daddy. According to the streaming service, “it is meant to be a Catastrophe-like single-cam comedy set in London.” Read my full review here.

    VOD

Rent-A-Pal (Sept. 11) *Some drive-in theaters will be playing the film.*

This unique film is set in the 90s and tells the story of a lonely guy named Brian who cares for his aging mom. He’s looking for a way to escape and finds Rent-A-Pal on VHS. The tape does what he wants and offers him some companionship but — at what cost? Read my full review here.

    I Am Woman (Sept. 11)

I Am Woman is the story of Helen Reddy, a musician and activist from the 70s.

    HBO Max

    UNPregnant (Sept. 10)

When a teen in Missouri gets pregnant, she worries she’ll no longer be able to attend an Ivy League school — or have a career. Read my full review here.
