Before taking the stage at Stagecoach, Sam Hunt chatted with SiriusXM The Highway’s Storme Warren and Buzz Brainard. He opened up about what he’s been doing for the last year and when we can expect a new record.

Warren didn’t waste any time asking Hunt what was on everyone’s mind — when the heck are we getting new music?

“I’ll start recording the best of the last… 12 months… in July and August and I should have a record,” Hunt said. “The songs are showing up and I’d like to have two or three more between now and July. For the most part, the record is there, it’s just a matter of recording it.”

The Georgia native then went on to chat about tour dates and admitted that, this year, he will only perform three shows. Stagecoach was, obviously, one of those few performances.

“I planned on not touring last year and then Luke [Bryan] asked me to come out and it was just too good of an opportunity. So that’s my excuse for not having music out last year. So I made a point this year, I said, ‘Look I’m gonna play three shows and I’m going to get this record done come hell or high water.”

Don’t worry if you don’t have tickets for one of those shows, though. He’ll be back. “If we didn’t come see you this year, we’ll come see you in the future.
