Ryan Hurd took the stage at Marathon Music works in front of a packed house on Feb. 24 for an hour-long set. The singer-songwriter played a mix of hits from his catalog and songs he’s penned for other artists. He also brought along a few special guests (including his talented wife, Maren Morris).
This show was Hurd’s first performance back in Nashville since his solo album debut in Oct. 2021. Hurd, who is known for penning hits like “Waves,” “Lonely Tonight” and “What If I Never Get Over You” for country’s biggest stars, has a knack for bringing these incredible songs and a rock ‘n roll vibe to his live shows. To sum it up: we don’t expect the hits to stop anytime soon.
The night included an appearance from Charles Kelley for Lady A’s hit “You Look Good.” Hurd co-wrote that track alongside fellow hitmaker Hillary Lindsey and the late busbee. There was also buzz from the energetic audience as soon as the show started, wondering if Morris would join her husband on stage. Sure enough, the talented country couple came together for their massive hit, “Chasing You.” But they didn’t stop making beautiful music together there. She also finished the show with him for “Pass It On.”
Hurd told the packed crowd how much his life has changed since the last time he took the stage in Nashville. He released his debut album, Pelago, and welcomed his first child with Morris.
If there ever was a question if the ACM Nominated New Male Artist of the Year could transition to the front of the stage, the crowd at Marathon confirmed that his fan base is rapidly growing. And, after last night, we know the real fan favorite off the album is the Tanqueray sippin’ heart breaker, “What Are You Drinking.” If you didn’t know, now you know. And please… “Pass It On.”
