8 Reasons to Follow The 1975’s Ross MacDonald on IG

Ross MacDonald is the bearded bassist for British pop rockers, The 1975. He’s insanely talented and when he’s not slapping the bass, he’s posting behind-the-scenes pics to his Instagram.

The 1975 is a four-piece band that includes wild-haired frontman Matty Healy, Adam Hann, George Daniel and MacDonald (bassist extraordinaire). MacDonald was born on June 6 in Wilmslow, Cheshire, England. When he was a teenager, he met his bandmates and they started performing cover songs before eventually writing their own tunes.

In 2012, The 1975 dropped their first EP, Facedown. Together they released three more EPs, all on Dirty Hit, before finally releasing The 1975 in 2013. Three years later, they received their first No. 1 album with I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It (what a title!).

Matty’s outgoing personality and charming good looks usually put him in the spotlight, but The 1975 fans love all of the guys equally. To understand brooding bass player Ross MacDonald, we studied his captivating IG.

One glance at his Insta and you’ll get to know MacDonald, and The 1975, a little better. The bass player teases band news before it’s announced, shares silly pics from on stage and does #embarassingphotosofmeandwaughy (AKA John Waugh — The 1975’s saxophone player).
