Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and temperatures are low in Nashville — and some roads are icy. Stay in, stay warm and stay safe this V-Day with these romantic comedies.
Easy A
Emma Stone stars in one of the funniest movies of the last decade. The outlandish story follows Olive, a student who utilizes her newfound overnight popularity to benefit her, much to her classmates’ dismay. The film has a loaded cast including Thomas Haden Church, Stanley Tucci and Penn Badgley.
Silver Linings Playbook
If you want something light-hearted, opt for Silvery Linings Playbook. It stars Bradley Cooper, as Pat, who recently got out of a mental institution. He was committed after finding his wife with another man. Pat moves back into his parents’ house with the hopes of reuniting with his wife — but things change when he meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence).
To All the Boys: Always and Forever
Are you looking for a funny and charming teen-comedy? This is the perfect fit for you — especially if you’re already a fan of the franchise. The new Netflix release is once again centered around Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) with Lara Jean now a senior in high school. After going to Korea, she begins to evaluate her plans for college and whether or not they include Peter. If you’re looking for a lengthy binge, watch the entire trilogy that includes To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and To All the Boys: I’ve P.S. I Still Love You.
Squared Love
This Polish film is now on Netflix. The movie stars Adrianna Chlebicka, Mateusz Banasiuk and Agnieszka Żulewska and, according to the streaming service, is a movie where “a celebrity journalist and renowned womanizer starts to rethink his life choices after he falls for a mysterious model who leads a double life.”
Love, Guaranteed
One of my favorite rom-coms of 2020 was this Netflix Original Film. It’s a straight-to-the-point comedy where Susan (Rachael Leigh Cook) takes on a new client (Damon Wayans Jr.) who is suing a dating site, and yes, all know what happens next. It’s predictable but, more importantly, it’s a funny and an easy watch.
The Lovebirds
Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani star as Leilani and Jibran, respectively. In this comedy, they’re unexpectedly thrown in the middle of a murder mystery. This hilarious flick is a great Valentine’s Day watch.
Can’t Hardly Wait
Any day is a great day to watch this 1998 cult classic. Can’t Hardly Wait takes place during a high school graduation party with familiar faces including Jennifer Love Hewitt and Seth Green.
Someone Great
Don’t sleep on this rom-com starring Gina Rodriguez, DeWanda Wise and Brittany Snow. Rodriguez stars as Jenny, who just got dumped by her boyfriend. She decides to play some Lizzo (honestly, that scene is the best one) and have an epic adventure with her two best gal pals.
Love Jacked
Netflix: “When her engagement falls through, a headstrong woman tries to dodge humiliation at home by returning from Africa with a man posing as her fiancé.”
Superbad
“I am McLovin!” Look, hear me out. This is a romantic comedy. Watch this one with your partner and you’ll both get lots of laughs (as long as you both have a slightly raunchy sense of humor). This is another easy watch that’s sure to give you a couple of hours of entertainment.
If you want absolutely nothing to do with Valentine’s Day, here are a few other things you can check out this weekend.
