CATS is at Nashville’s TPAC now through Nov. 24. Nashville Noise was there for opening night of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.
CATS is the record-breaking musical that is back on tour across North America — and fans are falling back in love with it. The production has won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical.
The musical takes place one night when the cats all gather together for their annual ball. It’s that night when they determine which cat will be reborn. The first half of CATS allows us to get to know a little more about several of the cats while the second half is where attendees really get invested. After intermission, we meet a couple more cats and ultimately learn who will get their new life.
If you’ve never seen this musical, now is the perfect time to bring the whole family into the feline fantasy world. If hearing “Memory” live wasn’t enough to grab your interest, the dancing should do the trick. The dances are the highlight of CATS and the most beautiful portion of the production. Each actor tells their own story through cat-like movements and rhythm. As far as dancing goes, it’s some of the best we’ve ever seen. The costumes and set designs are also standouts in this North American tour.
CATS is playing in Andrew Jackson Hall through Nov. 24. Tickets are available here. This play is recommended for anyone five and above.
