“Remember Me (Dúo)” is nominated for Best Original Song at the 2018 Oscars. When they performed the track, they filled the stage with gorgeous Mexican culture.
The song is from the beloved animated film, Coco, and it was originally performed by Miguel and Natalia Lafourcade. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are the nominees for the song, though.
During the show, Gael García Bernal, Miguel and Lafourcade took the stage to perform the song in two parts. In the beginning, it’s just Bernal and his acoustic guitar. There’s a scenic Mexican background that adds to the simplistic beauty of the song’s beginning.
Once Bernal belts out his last note, the background opens and the stage fills with color and Mexican dancers. We then see Miguel and Lafourcade, ready to finish the track with another level of energy. Lafourcade sings the track in Spanish as the two dance around the stage.
“Remember Me (Dúo)” ends on an impressive note as fireworks pop off and confetti fills the Oscars arena.
