Presley & Taylor have found a pretty fun way to deal with heartbreak: get dressed, go out, and get a little “Drunk.”
The sister duo’s latest single is a lively, tongue-in-cheek take on the post-breakup night out, and honestly, it’s hard not to have fun with it. “Drunk” doesn’t take itself too seriously, but there’s enough truth tucked into the lyrics to make the whole scenario feel familiar.
The song has an energetic country-pop feel, with Presley & Taylor’s sibling harmonies giving it an extra layer of personality. It’s the kind of breakup song that feels less like wallowing and more like texting your girlfriends, deciding you’re absolutely going out tonight and figuring the rest out later. And we’ll drink to that!
Written by Presley & Taylor alongside Haley Mae Campbell and Lydia Dall, “Drunk” is the fifth single the sisters have released since teaming up with producer Andrew Baylis. It’s another preview of the direction they’re taking with their upcoming album, Act My Age, out Oct. 16.
The 12-song album centers on the highs, lows, and general chaos of life in your 20s, including bad decisions, relationships, heartbreak, growing pains, and all the moments that eventually teach you a little more about yourself.
And “Drunk” fits right into that world.
“Once we figured out all of the songs we wanted to include in this new chapter, it was easy to see a common thread: the messiness of life in your 20s. We’re both married now and starting to settle down but we certainly had our share of toxic relationships, bad decisions, heartbreak, fun and everything in between and are grateful to lean into it all,” shared Presley & Taylor. ”’DRUNK’ really sums up that dramatic, chaotic, ‘throw caution to the wind’ air to your twenties, all wrapped up in a breakup.”
The sisters have already released “Bands Breakup,” “Sting,” “Out of This Dodge,” and “The Kind of Girl” ahead of the album, giving fans a growing preview of what Act My Age has in store.
But if you’re looking for a song to blast while you’re getting ready to go out after a breakup, “Drunk” feels like a pretty damn good choice.
Act My Age arrives Oct. 16.
