Politicon 2019: Highlights + Photos From Music City Convention

Politicon 2019 has officially wrapped up in Nashville. The “Unconventional Political Convention” drew thousands of attendees to Music City and was a huge success. It was a two-day weekend with Al Franken, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, James Carville, Donna Brazile and even a Baby Trump Balloon at Music City Center.

    Highlights from 2019 Politicon:

The 2020 Republican Primary Challengers Gov. Bill Weld, Gov. Mark Sanford and Rep. Joe Walsh went head to head to debate and discuss impeachment, immigration and Donald Trump. “I believe he is a traitor, and I’m speaking broadly,” Walsh said during the debate. “He betrays this country every single day, and that’s what he did when he told the president of Ukraine to dig up dirt on Joe Biden.”

During “An Evening with Al Franken,” Former Senator Al Franken said, “The thing about Donald Trump is in addition to being a compulsive liar, a serial conman, a white supremacist and just kind of a jerk, this guy… does not know what he is doing.”

Tomi Lahren was asked about the 2020 election during her time on the Politicon stage. She responded by saying, “My concern more so is not really with 2020 it’s more with ‘Who the hell do we have for 2024?’ And not only that, look at the impact that dumbasses like AOC, Rashida, the rest of them, look at the impact that they were able to make on our country… What damage they have done to our country, that is what I am concerned about.”

Ann Coulter was also on the same panel as Lahren. Coulter was asked if Trump has actually made America great again and Coulter responded with a question. “What do we want? Well, I think what we want is someone with all of Trump’s issues, but maybe someone who thinks things through. We want a president who thinks things through.”

James Comey, former director of the FBI, alluded to Trump being a liar during his talk. “Our leaders must reflect the glue that holds us together. They can’t be people that lie all the time, they just can’t.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s former press secretary, also had some words to say about the president. “I think the president is ar ole model in being a fighter and being willing to stand up and sometimes stand alone even when it’s not easy.”

Another highlight of the event was a discussion between James Carville and Sean Hannity, which focused on the current state of the nation. “The first thing is, this is the weakest president we have ever had in American history,” Carville said. “No one cares what he says. For sure, the Democrats don’t care. They’re going to impeach him. You cannot instil any discipline unless you have fear. No one is scared of Donald Trump. Y’all are all supporting a very weak compliant man.”

Hannity countered that by saying, “You gotta remember. Donald Trump — [people] keep underestimating him. He kicked the s*** out of the Bush dynasty, and he kicked the s*** out of Hillary Clinton. And no one saw that coming.”

There was also a “Head to Head with Donna Brazile and Reince Priebus.” During that, former DNC Chair Donna Brazile said, “We are American citizens and we should respect the process. Stop beating up one another because we disagree. Now, if we can hug each other and talk among ourselves with these big disagreements, why can’t you do that where you live and work too?”
