Peter Frampton Set to Bring Farewell Tour to Nashville

Peter Frampton recently announced he’s battling an inflammatory disease. It’s affecting his muscles and could ultimately affect his ability to play guitar. Along with this news, he revealed he’s going on tour one last night.

Frampton opened up to CBS This Morning about the diagnosis but remained optimistic. Although he’s struggling with stairs, he realized, “Look, it’s not life-threatening. It’s life-changing.” When he was given the diagnosis three years ago, he knew it could affect his guitar playing. Currently, he’s still playing but he doesn’t know how long that will be true.

“In a year’s time, maybe not so good,” he said of his guitar skills. “I’m a perfectionist and I do not want to go out there and feel like, ‘Oh I can’t, this isn’t good.’ That would be a nightmare for me… I’ve been playing guitar for 60 years… So, I’ve had a very good run.”

He’ll continue that “good run” with this farewell tour, called Peter Frampton Finale. The tour will feature special guest Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening as well as Julian Frampton on the west coast and additional surprise guests at select dates. The tour kicks off June 18 in Tulsa and stops in Little Rock, Montgomery, Chattanooga and Memphis before coming to Music City.

Frampton will play Ascend Amphitheater on June 27 with Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening. Tickets are on sale now.

Three weeks before his performance at Ascend, Frampton will release new music with the Peter Frampton Band. The album, All Blues is a 10-song covers album that includes “I Just Want to Make Love to You,” “Georgia On My Mind” and “The Thrill is Gone” featuring Sonny Landreth.
