When I walked into 100 Taylor for The Pepper Pott’s second Guyanese Supper Club, I didn’t know what to expect. I went solo, not knowing a soul. But by the end of the night, I left with a full heart, a very satisfied belly, and several new friends.
The Pepper Pott’s Supper Club is more than just a dinner; it’s a cultural experience. Chef Karen is behind the meals for this monthly Caribbean dining series, and she is as talented as she is lovely. (And it sounds like for the next event, they’ll be serving Guyanese food with a Southern flair!)
The May supper club was only their second event, but it already felt like a beloved tradition. Over tropical cocktails and under string lights, guests shared stories, laughter, and one unforgettable meal. The evening kicked off with a warm bowl of split pea soup, something I’ve never loved… until now. Chef Karen’s version completely changed my mind (and that gave her a laugh).
Next came the curried wings, served with homemade ranch that was so good it deserves its own spotlight. (I would buy that ranch and I’m a Hidden Valley girl.) For my main course, I opted for the airline chicken, which was flavorful and nestled on a bed of rice and veggies that burst with bold Caribbean flavors. It had just the perfect little kick of spice. And dessert? A dreamy plantain “banana” bread paired with creamy coconut ice cream. Perfection.
But the food was only part of what made the night so special. The space buzzed with energy, music, and conversation. It was intimate, inclusive, and full of joy.
If you missed this one, don’t make the same mistake twice. The next Guyanese Supper Club happens on June 29 from 5 PM to 7:30 PM. Get your tickets here.
