Review: Get ‘On Your Feet’ at Nashville’s TPAC Through Jan. 20

On Your Feet! The Emilio and Gloria Estefan Broadway Musical is currently at TPAC. This musical is high energy, tons of fun and will definitely make you want to get on your feet.

This production is based on the book by Alexander Dinelaris, featuring music produced and recorded by Emilio and Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. Estefan fans and music lovers alike will hear songs they know and love during the two and a half hour show.

On Your Feet tells the story of Gloria (played by Christie Prades) and Emilio (Eddie Noel). Estefan has sold over 100 million records and sold out stadiums around the world and this shows her rise to fame. Together, the couple have won 26 Grammy Awards but their music is really only half the story. From childhood to their early musical career, the show tackles all of those moments and everything in between.

Sometimes the show is a little heartbreaking but it’s not long before you get lost in the music. This musical features “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “Conga,” “1-2-3,” “Get On Your Feet,” “Mi Tierra,” “Don’t Want to Lose You Now” and Reach.” There are also original songs written by Gloria and her daughter, Emily Estefan.

The music is the backbone of this mesmerizing musical but the dancing is the muscle. These dancers are impeccable from start to finish but one mini dancer in particular caught our eyes. Nine-year-old Jeanpaul Medina Solano stole the show when it came to his fast feet.

On Your Feet is at TPAC through Jan. 20 and this show is a must see if you love Estefan, great dancing or good music. Grab tickets and find out information about specific shows on TPAC’s website. If you’re interested in season tickets for TPAC, find that information here.
