Old Dominion’s latest achievement is music to their fans’ ears and it was all for a good cause. The band made history by becoming the first group to win the Country Music Association’s Group of the Year award seven years in a row. To celebrate the milestone, they did what they do best: put on an unforgettable show, and this time, they did it with a twist.
Old Dominion gave back by holding seven shows at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium. These performances spread over four incredible nights and raised a jaw-dropping $1.25 million for several charities they’ve supported throughout their career.
Joining the band for these special shows were some familiar faces from all genres of music, including Bear Rinehart from NEEDTOBREATHE, Kenny Chesney, Brothers Osborne and Phil Vassar. But the surprises didn’t stop there! For the final show, Old Dominion brought out surprise guests like ERNEST and The War & Treaty, who lit up the stage with a heartfelt rendition of “Lean on Me.” It was a night full of music, memories, and magic.
While Nashville was still buzzing from the unforgettable concerts, Old Dominion gave us more to enjoy by dropping a brand new song. “Making Good Time” is a mid-tempo track that is sure to become a fan favorite. Lead vocalist Matthew Ramsey had this to say about it, “There are so many ways to celebrate something like this, and this song captures the spark of who every guy in this band was when we started chasing this dream. As the band continues to celebrate their success, they’re already looking ahead to the next chapter. After a year of headlining festivals, Old Dominion will be hitting the road for their very own summer tour. Though they accidentally let the cat out of the bag early, the official announcement is set for Feb. 19. Throughout all of the excitement, Old Dominion stayed true to their mission of giving back. The money raised from the Ryman shows will go to several organizations, including MusiCares, Save the Music, Backline Care, the Opry Trust Fund, CMA Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and The Ramsey Foundation. For Ramsey, it’s all about supporting the people who do important work behind the scenes. He says, “At a time when charitable organizations are doing more with less, we all felt it was really important to support organizations that we know take care of people who need it.”
