Nov. 6: What to Watch This Weekend

Between movie theaters, VOD, Redbox, Netflix and the rest of the streaming platforms, a lot of content has dropped this week. I went through and found some of the best options you can watch this weekend.

    Netflix

    Country Ever After (Nov. 6)

If you’re a country music fan, you’ll definitely want to put this Netflix series on your radar. According to the streaming service in this reality series, “Country artist Coffey Anderson and his wife, hip-hop dancer Criscilla, juggle family life, career goals and tests of faith in this reality series.”

    Citation (Nov. 6)

According to Netflix this Nollywood movie is about: “A bright student in Nigeria takes on the academic establishment when she reports a popular professor who tried to rape her. Based on real events.”

    Redbox

    Antebellum (Out Now)

Antebellum is one of 2020’s most highly anticipated films. In the horror film, writer Veronica Henley (played by Janelle Monáe) is trapped inside of a scary reality. She has to confront time — and she has to do it before it’s too late.

    Friendsgiving (Out Now)

This 2020 comedy may be a foreshadowing of what’s to come later this month — where two friends come together to host a crazy Thanksgiving for their friends. Nicol Paone wrote and directed this one that stars Malin Åkerman, Kat Dennings, Aisha Tyler, Chelsea Peretti, Christine Taylor, Jane Seymour, Deon Cole, Wanda Sykes, Margaret Cho, Fortune Feimster, Jack Donnelly and Ryan Hansen.

    VOD

    Kindred (Nov. 6)

When a pregnant woman starts to hallucinate, she assumes her dead boyfriend’s family is to blame. She thinks they may have plans for the baby.

    Possessor (Nov. 6)

If you’re looking for a sci-fi/horror, look no further than Possessor. In the new flick, an assassin takes possession of other people’s bodies “using brain-implant technology to execute high-profile targets.” Read my review here.

    HBO

The Dead Don’t Die (Nov. 6)

This Focus Features zombie film has an all-star cast. Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, Carol Kane, Austin Butler, Luka Sabbat and Tom Waits are all in The Dead Don’t Die.
