Between movie theaters, VOD, Redbox, Netflix and the rest of the streaming platforms, a lot of content has dropped this week. I went through and found some of the best options you can watch this weekend.
In Theaters
Freaky (Nov. 13)
If you’re a horror film fan and are looking to get out of the house and socially distance at the movie theater, Freaky is your film. The slasher film is also pretty funny and stars Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton and comes from the director of Happy Death Day. This one is out now!
Netflix
Dash & Lily (Nov. 10)
Want an easy binge from the comfort of your own home? The first season of Dash & Lily is now on Netflix and, honestly, it’s adorable. Netflix describes it as “A whirlwind holiday romance builds as cynical Dash and optimistic Lily trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations all across New York City.”
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (Nov. 13)
Get in the holiday spirit this weekend with Jingle Jangle! The film has familiar faces and holiday magic. Netflix says, “A musical adventure and a visual spectacle for the ages, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is a wholly fresh and spirited family holiday event. Set in the gloriously vibrant town of Cobbleton, the film follows legendary toymaker Jeronicus Jangle (Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker) whose fanciful inventions burst with whimsy and wonder. But when his trusted apprentice (Emmy winner Keegan-Michael Key) steals his most prized creation, it’s up to his equally bright and inventive granddaughter (newcomer Madalen Mills) — and a long-forgotten invention — to heal old wounds and reawaken the magic within. From the imagination of writer-director David E. Talbert, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey reminds us of the strength of family and the power of possibility. Featuring original songs by John Legend, Philip Lawrence, Davy Nathan, and “This Day” performed by Usher and Kiana Ledé.”
Redbox
Bill & Ted Face the Music (Nov. 10)
Bill and Ted are back! Bill & Ted Face the Music is now on Redbox and it’s a must-see for any Bill and Ted fan. In the flick, the funny duo are tasked with saving the world — through music.
VOD
Mulan (Nov. 10)
You’ve definitely heard about this one. The Mulan remake from Walt Disney Studios was the movie everyone was talking about a few months ago. Now it’s on VOD and the remake is something you can enjoy with the entire family.
Jungleland (Nov. 13)
In Jungleland, a boxer and his manager (who also happens to be his brother) travel across country for their last fight. They get an unexpected companion to join them and that’s when we see the real issues in the brothers’ relationship.
