Country singer Nick Alligood just released his new song, “Drinkin’ You Back.” The breakup song is relatable, especially if you’ve ever gone through one and then picked up a bottle (hey we all have!).
Alligood is a Georgia native that moved to Music City back in 2014 to chase his music dreams. Since coming to town, he’s done so much musically. He’s shared the stage with Joe Nichols, Jerrod Niemann and Eric Paslay, among others. He’s even been featured on SiriusXM’s The Highway.
Now, Alligood has released a new single that’s making some noise. “Drinkin’ You Back” is a breakup song that he wrote from personal experience alongside Chris Yarber. His long-term relationship recently ended and, through the breakup, he learned that alcohol doesn’t heal all wounds.
We sat down with him for a quick chat about the song and even discussed the best ways to get over a breakup.
Nashville Noise: Congrats on your new single! How are you feeling now that it’s out?
Nick Alligood: Excited for a new direction with my sound. I think this is the most “me” I’ve released so far and the reaction from my fans and supporters is beyond what I could have ever hoped for!
What’s the backstory on that one?
NA: Alcohol may help you forget temporarily but it can also bring you right back to that same person.
I feel like you have to have a good story about turning to alcohol after your recent breakup. Anything funny you can share? We can all relate to those.
NA: I have recently gone through a breakup and I’ve definitely woken up cringing at my call history [laughs] but this song’s not about that.
What advice would you give to someone going through a breakup?
NA: Steer clear, get yourself together and never stop moving forward!
Lastly, I’d love to know what’s next for you! What else can we expect this year from you?
NA: More music, more music, more music! So excited for the next few months.
