Today is National Mutt Day and we’re using it as a day to celebrate rescued mutts. Here are three of our favorite Nashville pet rescues where you can adopt your own.
Nashville Humane Association
Nashville Humane is “committed to promoting humane education, controlling pet overpopulation and finding responsible homes for the homeless and adoptable pet community in Nashville and throughout Tennessee.” They have a save rate of 99% and do so much amazing work with local animals. Our editor, Coti Howell, even adopted her black lab mix from that shelter. Find out more about them, adopt, volunteer or support them here.
Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue
Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue is another one of our favorite local rescues. They are a “NO KILL, primarily all-volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Middle Tennessee.” They’re a favorite of local celebrities (remember when Luke and Caroline Bryan did this?) and animal advocates alike. Find out more and support them here.
Agape Animal Rescue
Agape Animal Rescue is another one of our amazing local rescues. Their mission is simple: “To provide loving, emotionally stable, nurturing foster care for them while they wait for their forever homes, for their forever families.” Some of their dogs have even made it on to the Opry stage! Find out more about Agape and how you can help, or adopt, here.

Where you choose to get your dog or cat from, we hope you choose to adopt. If you’re not ready to give a furbaby a FUREVER home, consider volunteering or donating to a local rescue.
