The Nashville Film Festival just dropped some big news! Academy Award and Emmy-winning actress (and longtime Nashville local) Nicole Kidman will be the centerpiece of a very special evening during this year’s festival.
On Sept. 21 at 5 PM, Kidman will take the stage at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s CMA Theater for a conversation titled “Nicole Kidman: Where Art Meets Home in Nashville.” The Q&A will give fans a rare opportunity to hear directly from Kidman about her incredible career — from her transformative roles on the big screen to her work as a producer.
And the night doesn’t stop there. After the discussion, the festival will host a retrospective screening of Cold Mountain (2003), the Civil War-era love story that earned Kidman critical acclaim. The screening will also spotlight the film’s award-winning soundtrack, produced by T Bone Burnett and featuring contributions from Alison Krauss, Jack White, and more.
Kidman, who has called Nashville home for over 20 years, says the city has been instrumental in her creative journey. “I’m truly honored to be invited to participate in the Nashville Film Festival,” she says in a release. “Nashville has been my home for over 20 years, and it holds such a special place in my heart. It’s been incredibly meaningful to bring film and television productions to Tennessee — to help support the local creative community and share in the storytelling spirit that runs so deeply through this city. We filmed Season 1 of Scarpetta right here in Nashville, and I’m thrilled that we’re gearing up to begin production on Season 2. It’s a privilege to continue telling stories in a city that inspires so much creativity.”
Festival organizers say Kidman’s involvement is the perfect way to celebrate both her artistry and her advocacy for filmmaking in Tennessee. “Nicole’s commitment to uplifting filmmaking in Tennessee, coupled with her remarkable body of work as both an actor and producer, is inspiring,” said Jason Padgitt, NashFilm’s Executive Director. “Her personal leadership and tireless advocacy for women in the industry exemplify the values we champion. We look forward to sharing this unforgettable evening with Nashville.”
The 56th Nashville Film Festival runs Sept. 18–24 at venues across the city, with films, panels, music, and more. Tickets and VIP badges are on sale now at nashvillefilmfestival.org.
