Nashville Ballet is celebrating National Dance Day for the ninth consecutive year. This year, they’ll have more free offerings than ever before.
On July 27, they’ll offer free classes and a free performance by students and NB2 dancers at the Nashville Ballet studio (3630 Redmon Street). The day will feature a sample of Nashville Ballet’s regularly programmed Community Division Adult and Youth classes appropriate for all ages. This is all in honor of the American Dance Movement’s annual nationwide celebration of dance.
This year, for the first time, they’ll have a free performance by pre-professional students training in the organization’s Summer Intensive. These students, who are ages 16 and up, will get to show off the skills they’ve gained in five weeks of intense training. The showcase will feature performances set to every genre from classical and contemporary ballet to flamenco and jazz.
“At Nashville Ballet, we believe dance is an essential and inspiring element of our community,” Associate Artistic Director Nick Mullikin said. “National Dance Day gives us the opportunity to share that belief with others in a fun, no pressure environment. Not only can we celebrate the day with people who know us, but we hope to introduce ourselves to community members who may not have realized that Nashville Ballet offers dance classes for all ages and experience levels throughout the year.”
