Roderick August is a folk singer-songwriter who packed up and hit the road after wildfires ravaged California a couple of years ago. That led him to play over 40 states — alone and acoustic. That may sound intimidating for some, but not for August whose voice and lyrics have the ability to connect people from all walks of life.
That impressive solo touring trek is what led August to create his debut album, Forever the Far the Closer the Near. He found inspiration in nature, feeling enlightened by the Texas skyline and the Smokey Mountain hummingbirds. Most of all, he knew he found inspiration in himself and his stories.
The stories in his debut are ones we can all relate to. He wrote it for hardworking Americans, about the American dream but it’s so much more than that. These are stories everyone can feel and connect with — we did.
August’s voice brings these stories to life. His mesmerizing vocals are both heartfelt and incredibly emotional and this album is all him from the vocals and guitar to the mixing and mastering.
