Music Crush of the Month: Meet Country Artist Hailey Verhaalen

Hailey Verhaalen is a lot of things. She’s a fireball (in the best way) but she’s also hardworking, dedicated, fun and incredibly talented. All those reasons are why we love the Oregon City native — and why we chose her for our September 2020 Music Crush of the Month.

Verhaalen was born a performer. She got her first taste of life on stage during her third-grade talent show and the rest is history. She started chasing her dream by way of rodeos, festivals, fairs and even NBA games but she knew she needed to make the move to Music City if she really wanted a shot. That’s just what she did — four years ago.

Since then, Verhaalen has been hustling to get her voice heard and she’s succeeding. She’s performed at the iconic Bluebird Cafe and supported artists like Deana Carter, Love and Theft, James Otto, Colt Ford, Craig Wayne Boyd and more. She also took a chance and tried out for American Idol — and got a “yes” from all three judges!

Now that she’s been trying her hand at this professionally for a few years, she’s also evolving as an artist. Early listeners have gotten a chance to hear the fun side of Verhaalen but with her new music, she’s showing a softer side. Most recently, she dropped a song that’s relevant for our current situation titled “Someday When This Is Over” and she’s gearing up to release another in a matter of days.

“Sunday Morning Love You” drops Sept. 6 and will be our next feature with this month’s Music Crush. Stay tuned for three more features including an interview and maybe even a tasty treat.

For now, pre-save the new song here and stay tuned for more from Verhaalen all month long.
