Longtime friends Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin are becoming a duo — for a tour at least.
The singer-songwriters are heading out on tour through the fall of 2019. They’ll come together as an intimate, acoustic duo, swapping songs and sharing stories. Together, they’ll perform songs from their catalogs as well as some of their favorite tracks while on stage.
This isn’t the first time these two talented women have toured together. The last time was in 2013 when Colvin and Carpenter made fans feel like they were in their living rooms.
Carpenter’s solo career has already been impressive. She’s sold more than 14 million records and had huge hits like “Passionate Kisses” and “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her.” She’s won five Grammy Awards, two
Colvin, on the other hand, has been an important part of the contemporary folk scene ever since 1989, when she released her debut album. That’s also when she won her first Grammy. This year marks 30 years since the release of that album, Steady On. To commemorate the anniversary, she’s releasing an all-acoustic version of it.
Stay tuned for more on this collaborative tour.
