Maddie & Tae on ‘The Way it Feels’: ‘We Are So Proud’

"We wrote these songs during the most vulnerable times and our hope is that people hear that and connect.”

Maddie & Tae are starting 2020 with some big news. The platinum-selling duo just announced the release date for their sophomore album, The Way it Feels.

The record drops on April 10 via Mercury Nashville. Jimmy Robbins and Derek Wells produced the 15-track album, which features songs from their previous two EPs. There are also five brand new songs, which were all co-written by Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye.

“It has been four years since we’ve released an album,” Marlow says. “For us, this is a lot more than just an album release. This sophomore album will always be a reminder that no matter the setbacks and struggles, we will come out stronger and better. We are so proud of this 15 song story. We wrote these songs during the most vulnerable times and our hope is that people hear that and connect.”

Although Marlow and Dye co-wrote the majority of the songs (all but one actually), there are some other familiar names with writing credits. Josh Thompson and Dave Barnes both co-wrote songs on the album.

“These songs will always represent something so beautiful and spiritual to us,” Dye says of the album. “And hopefully, it will represent something similar to people who listen.”
