Just before hitting the road for their farewell tour, the southern rockers will take the stage to honor Daniels. The lineup is already star-studded with Daniels and his band, Alabama, Alison Krauss and Billy F Gibbons of ZZ Top. Blackberry Smoke, Bobby Bare, Chris Janson, Chris Young and Chuck Leavell are also on the bill. That’s not all, though. Montgomery Gentry‘s Eddie Montgomery, Jamey Johnson, Justin Moore and Lee Brice are also listed. Rick Skaggs, Sara Evans, The Oak Ridge Boys and Travis Tritt round out the lineup.
This is a special performance for Lynyrd Skynyrd who have a history of performing at the event. After the 1977 plane crash with members of the southern rock band, they made their return to the stage at the Volunteer Jam. The year was 1979 and they took the stage with Daniels. Now they’ll return to that stage with their iconic music.
“Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. We’re honored that they are joining this extraordinary lineup of artists before they embark on the farewell tour,” says Keith Wortman, CEO of Blackbird Presents and executive producer of Volunteer Jam XX: A Tribute To Charlie.
This year’s Volunteer Jam happens on March 7 at 7 PM. Sirius XM’s Storme Warren will host the night at Bridgestone Arena. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster and some tickets are as low as $21.50 with fees.
Following the Volunteer Jam, Lynyrd Skynyrd will hit the road for their two-year Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour. Sirius XM is sponsoring the tour that starts in May. The band doesn’t have any Nashville shows on the farewell tour but the full list of dates are here.
