Kevin McGuire may be a name you don’t know yet, but you should. The British singer is so talented and we are loving his version of this popular The 1975 song.
The 1975’s “The Sound” is a funky pop track that will get stuck in your head for days. It’s one of the catchy hits from their newest album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. Now imagine if the British pop band made that song country.
That’s just what McGuire did.
The Glasgow native is a huge fan of The 1975 and this isn’t his first time covering one of their songs. This one was a challenge, though.
“The 1975 are one of my favorite bands,” he tells us. “I listen to their music probably every day of my life. When I heard ‘The Sound,’ I immediately fell in love with the song. With our musical styles being completely different, it was a real challenge for me to cover one of their songs and try to make it my own — especially with my country sound!”
His version is toned down and twangy and shows off his smooth voice. While the beat and tone are completely different, The 1975 fans will still know all the words. It’s a unique take on “The Sound” and we are hooked on the cover — and the singer.
“I just started jamming it on my own for fun, and this is what came out. It has a completely different feel to the original, but hopefully, the audience will be able to connect to it like I do.”
