Made From the Dirt is the forthcoming 10-track debut album from soulful country singer Kassi Ashton. The highly-anticipated album drops Sept. 20 via MCA Nashville. Pre-save it here.
Ashton’s been giving fans a taste of the album since earlier this year and, most recently, released “Son of a Gun.” That was the last song she wrote for her debut album. She explains, “I wrote it with Jason Nix and Driver Williams, who plays guitar with Eric Church. It was the first time writing with Jason, and he warmed my heart because he had done so much research: he had stalked me on Instagram and gotten as much of a taste of who I am as he could without ever meeting me. His idea was like, ‘daughter of a gun,’ and I was like, I’d rather be called son of a gun — I always say I’m Daddy’s little boy anyway.”
“Called Crazy” and “I Don’t Wanna Dance” are also on Made From the Dirt, with the former currently Top 40 on the country charts. That is why Kassi Ashton’s debut album is one of my most anticipated albums of the year.
According to a release, Made From the Dirt is raw and vulnerable, telling her story through the music. They say, “It’s unapologetically Kassi Ashton to the core.”
