June 18: What to Watch This Weekend

Between movie theaters, VOD, Redbox, Netflix and the rest of the streaming platforms, a lot of content dropped this week. I went through and found some of the best options you can watch this weekend.

    Belcourt

    The Sparks Brothers

IMDB:The Sparks Brothers, is a musical odyssey through five weird and wonderful decades with Ron and Russell Mael celebrating the inspiring legacy of Sparks.”

Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided to Go For It

IMDB: “A look at the life and work of Rita Moreno from her humble beginnings in Puerto Rico to her success on Broadway and in Hollywood.”

    In Theaters

    Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard

The sequel to the 2017 surprise hit starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson is now in theaters. Michael Bryce (Reynolds) is coping with losing his bodyguard license and as he is heading down a new path, Sonia (Salma Hayek) has different plans as she needs him to save her husband Darius (Jackson). The sequel is 100% a crowd-pleasing action. Check out my review here.

    12 Mighty Orphans

Rusty Russell is a Championship winning high school football coach but he is looking for a new challenge. He takes on the job as head football coach at an orphanage. This inspiring true story will give you hope, inspiration and leave you reaching for the tissues.

    Redbox

    Godzilla vs. Kong

The Monsterverse continues as we see the two titans, Godzilla and Kong, go head to head in a battle to find out who reigns supreme. The movie rights the wrongs of previous films with fewer human scenes, letting the giants be the focus with three rounds of action-packed fighting that keeps viewers guessing. Netflix

    Fatherhood

IMDB: “A father brings up his baby girl as a single dad after the unexpected death of his wife who died a day after their daughter’s birth.”

    Workin’ Moms

It’s finally here! The highly-anticipated fifth season of Workin’ Moms is now on Netflix. The laughs continue in the new season that’s an easy binge-watch for your weekend.
