Nashville’s Judah & the Lion just dropped a brand new song. With it, they announced the details for a new record.
“pictures” is out now and the track features Kacey Musgraves. It follows the band’s personal song, “Over my head.” This song, in particular, was written in the midst of singer Judah Akers’ family falling apart. His family faced alcoholism, affairs, death
“I had a really deep moment with my mom when she called me and broke down bawling about how hard it was to move from our family house,” Akers explains. “I wrote the song from her perspective and it came in a flood, in five minutes, right after the call. I needed to write it because I was heartsick.”
Judah & the Lion revealed that this track will be on a brand new album titled, Pep Talks. This is their third LP and it’s due out May 3 on Cletus the Van/Caroline. “Over my head” was the first taste of the album for fans and it’s resonating well with listeners. At the time of publishing, the song had garnered three million streams globally.
Fans will get to hear these songs live through a few experiences dubbed Pep Talks: An Intimate Album Listening and Storytelling Experience Presented by Judah & the Lion. They’ll hit six cities across the southeast for that this April and, at each event, Akers, Brian Macdonald
The song is available here and pre-order information for the album will be available soon. The full list of announced appearances and the most up-to-date information is available on the band’s official website.
