Johnny Cash now has a restaurant in downtown Nashville. The Johnny Cash Kitchen and Saloon recently opened on 3rd Avenue and we were there for all the fun.
The meat and three is located just next door to the Johnny Cash Museum and features the southern cuisine of The Swett Family. The family is a Nashville staple as far as food goes — they’ve been in the local restaurant business for 50 years. On the menu at the eatery is baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, sweet potato mash, cornbread (several different ways) and, of course, fried chicken.
The venue is unlike anything else in Nashville and it was designed to feel like Johnny and June’s home, according to John Carter Cash. The upstairs includes stained glass windows with images of the couple, a living room area (complete with a fireplace) and a replica of the couple’s front porch.
