Jack White, who replaced Morgan Wallen as musical guest, performed on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. He did versions of “Ball and Biscuit” and “Lazaretto” and even included a respectful nod to Eddie Van Halen.
To honor the legend, White played a blue Eddie Van Halen model guitar that Van Halen designed for him specifically “with a few customizations.”
“Eddie was very kind to me and saw to it that this guitar was made for me to my specs,” White wrote on Instagram along with a photo of the bright guitar. “I won’t even insult the man’s talent by trying to play one of his songs tonight. Thanks again Eddie for this guitar and rest in peace sir.”
If you missed last week’s trending hot topic, Wallen was originally supposed to be the SNL musical guest but was replaced after viral videos surfaced of him partying in Tuscaloosa. The lack of social distancing and mask-wearing was found to be a violation of the weekly show’s COVID-19 protocol. Not long after news broke that he had been replaced, Wallen took to social media to apologize.
