To celebrate Earth Day, Jack Johnson is hosting a live stream of his long-running Hawaiian music festival, Kokua. The 2020 Kokua Festival happens on Saturday (April 25) at 5 PM CST with proceeds benefitting the Kokua Hawaii Foundation.
The two-hour live stream will include live performances from past Kokua Festival alumni as well as Johnson. Ben Harper, G. Love, Ziggy Marley, Lukas Nelson, Paula Fuga, Kawika Kahiapo, John Cruz, Anuhea, Ron Artis II and his brother, Thunderstorm Artis, will all perform. There will also be home cooking lessons from some of Hawaii’s top chefs, Ed Kenney and Mark Noguchi.
The proceeds from the event will go to support environmental education in schools and communities in Hawaii. There will also be money donated toward local COVID-19 relief efforts. That portion will go to programs that will “promote food security and sustainable local food systems in Hawaii” including Aloha Harvest, Full Calabash Fund and the Chef Hui Give & Go Community Meal Program.
Watch the live stream by tuning into Amazon Music’s Twitch channel or Johnson’s Facebook page at 5 PM CST.
