The “I Believe in Nashville” team has created “I Believe in California” shirts that will benefit local SoCal aid charities.
Rich Egan is the owner of “I Believe in Nashville” mural that’s quickly become a Nashville Instagram staple. He was watching the brushfires completely ravage Southern California when he realized he had to help. Egan grew up in SoCal and knew the need was personal — and urgent.
“Punk rock has taught me a lot. Mainly, you don’t wait for other people to do things for you. You do it,” he says. “I also learned that if you wanted to make a statement about what you stand for put it on a shirt. It’s simple, powerful and to the point.”
Egan took matters into his own hands by creating the all-cotton, unisex shirts. They’re a variation of the Nashville design and they feature a full moon behind a cluster of pine trees, a silhouette of the state of California and its iconic bear. The shirt is slightly distressed with touches of grey around the edges to evoke ash. It reads, “I Believe in California.”
“I wanted shirts that capture the nature of what’s happened, that represent being down but not out. We are all still standing, and we’re going to help each other get through it.”
One hundred percent of the profits will be distributed across the various (local) charitable organizations aiding those affected by the fires. The shirt is $30 for adult sizes and $20 for youth sizes. There’s also a $20 poster that’s available. See both items and order yours here.
