The group has been performing together since 2015, when they made their debut at Country Radio Seminar. Most recently, the Hot Country Knights opened for Bentley during his Burning Man Tour. Of course, it’s actually Bentley who takes the stage with the band as his alter ego, Douglas “Big Rhythm Doug” Douglason.
If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing them live, imagine bad 90s fashion (i.e. brightly colored windbreakers), mullets, wigs and shades. They’re ridiculous and that’s why we love them. They cover 90s music like Alan Jackson and Joe Diffie with jokes in between.
UMG took to social media to announce that they’d welcomed the band to their label. They also issued a press release, which didn’t mention Bentley or any of his bandmates by name. Instead, they were called their stage names. Hot Country Knights is Douglason (lead singer), Trevor Travis (lead bass), Marty Ray “Rayro” Roburn (lead guitar), Terotej “Terry” Dvoraczekynski (keytar/fiddle), Barry Van Ricky (steel guitar) and Monte Montgomery (percussion).
If you haven’t seen Hot Country Knights in person, don’t worry. Your chance is coming. Stay tuned to find out what this means for the parody band (we can’t wait to find out).
