Follow the yellow brick road to Headquarters Beercade‘s new immersive pop-up experience. No Place Like Home is the name of the experience, which was inspired by the 80th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz.
No Place Like Home starts Aug. 9 and stays at the downtown Nashville location until Aug. 18. It’ll completely transform our favorite bar/arcade into a Wizard of Oz wonderland. They’re taking over the entire two-story, 6,500 square foot venue.
The entryway will transport guests to Kansas with a black and white cornfield and floor-to-ceiling tornado installation. If that wasn’t enough, Dorothy’s house will also hang from the ceiling.
Guests will then walk through a rainbow entryway to the Land of Oz with a technicolor dream of lollipops, bubbles and flowers. An Emerald City DJ booth will fill the night with music. There will also be an enchanted forest with a life-sized apple tree to meet the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion plus a massive hot air balloon basket.
Walk to the second floor and you can pose in a field of 500 poppies. They engulf the brick walls on their way to the Wicked Witch’s Lair at the mezzanine level which will feature a crystal ball, brooms and hats. The opposite staircase with feature 100 ruby slippers suspended in air!
It wouldn’t be an HQ Beercade party without specialty drinks! The Emerald City is a Green Apple Skittle-infused vodka, lemon, fresh lemonade- garnished with Emerald Rock Candy. The Ruby Slipper is a Raspberry-infused Cachaca with “luster dust” (edible glitter), fresh lime juice with glowing Ruby ice cube. There’s also a Wicked Witch of the West with white rum, kiwi puree, melon liqueur and fresh lime juice. It’s served with a witch hat. Liquid Courage is Jasmine tea infused moonshine, falernum syrup and lemon. It’s served with the Lion’s medal of courage. Lastly, there’s a Gin Man which is gin, Pamplemousse, lavender syrup, lemon bitters and angostura bitters. It comes with a heart-shaped ice cube.
No Place Like Home will also host special events including an Over the Rainbow Wizard of Oz themed drag brunch. That happens Aug. 10 from 1 PM to 3 PM. On Aug. 18 during the same time, there will be a Toto’s Dog Adoption event in partnership with Nashville Humane Society and Tito’s. Dogs will be on-site and available for adoption.
