This year, the Grand Ole Opry made its debut at Manchester’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. That’s right, the Opry packed up and headed to The Farm.
The show happened Sunday night at Bonnaroo and included Opry members as well as friends of the Opry. Opry members Bobby Bare, Old Crow Medicine Show, Del McCoury Band and Riders in the Sky were there for the epic event. Joshua Hedley, LANCO, Nikki Lane and Maggie Rose also joined in on the debut.
The Nashville-based Opry has been around for more than 90 years but its rarely taken its show out of Music City. They have visited New York City’s Carnegie Hall, Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center and now, Roo.

While Old Crow Medicine Show was at Bonnaroo, they got another big honor. The mayors of Coffee County and Manchester presented the band with the key to the city and county. This is a tradition that began a decade ago to BB King. They use it as a way to celebrate the talent that comes to the festival every year. Old Crow Medicine Show join Lionel Ritchie, Kris Kristopherson, Widespread Panic and The Preservation Jazz Hall Band.
