2021 Grammys Pay Tribute to Those Lost with Beautiful In Memoriam

Trevor Noah set the tone for the in-memorial segment at the 2021 Grammys. They paid tribute to a lot of incredible talent we’ve lost in the last year with moving tribute performances, old performance clips and photos of artists.

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak honored Little Richard with an incredible medley of two songs. Mars embodied the iconic performer with Paak on drums. Mars would have made Little Richard proud by nailing his signature high notes.

Lionel Richie’s tribute to Kenny Rogers was another moving performance — and a heartfelt one. Richie donned all black with his soulful voice covering “Lady,” a song meaningful to both artists. As he finished the song he said, “I miss you, Kenny” and a photo of the two of them graced the screen.

John Prine also got a beautiful tribute during the 2021 Grammys with Brandi Carlile singing a beautiful rendition of “I Remember Everything.” Towards the end of her performance, she thanked him “for everything.”

Brittany Howard and Chris Martin ended the segment with “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” Howard’s cover of the Rodgers and Hammerstein song. Together, the two rounded out a very touching tribute.

Throughout the night the Grammys have done a great job of making this show feel personal and they did just that with the in-memoriam segment.
