Justin Timberlake‘s classic song, “Rock Your Body,” is getting a 2019 remake by Miami producer, FRANCHiSE. The track drops today exclusively on Nashville Noise.
Although we weren’t crazy about someone covering this JT classic, FRANCHiSE has a way of making it something new and unique while still celebrating the original. This new version is one we’ll be listening to all summer long. It’s upbeat, electronic, funky and perfectly reimagined.
“I’ve always been so inspired by JT and his ability to morph and blend different genres into a single song,” FRANCHiSE says. “‘Rock Your Body’ is one of my favorites from his Justified album and so I knew I had to cut my own version of it. My production style is very influenced by underground house music so I thought it was appropriate to try and bring some of the electronic flavor to this tune, all while keeping it as soulful as possible.”
In this new version, FRANCHiSE does his own vocals and lays it over a new track. This time around, the music has a more funk-driven bassline and updated beat. He manages to do all that while keeping it soulful. Listen below.
“Rock Your Body” was originally released on Timberlake’s debut album in 2002, Justified. Timberlake co-wrote it with the song’s producers, The Neptunes. It was a smash hit, climbing to No. 5 on the Billboard charts.
