Fitz and The Tantrums are reaching for the stars (literally) with their brand new album Man On The Moon, officially arriving July 25 via Atlantic Records. The pop-soul faves just revealed the news, along with the project’s high-energy title track and a visualizer that’s as vibrant as the song itself.
The 14-track album is available to pre-save now, and fans can now stream “Man On The Moon,” a Supremes-inspired groove that feels like a dreamy escape from reality. With its chant-worthy chorus and cosmic energy, it’s no surprise this was the first song written for the record, and it ended up guiding the entire creative process.
This new album is being called the band’s boldest yet. It’s a collection of feel-good anthems and soulful bops that show off Fitz and The Tantrums’ signature sound while still moving it into exciting new territory.
“I decided I was simply going to write for my heart and for my soul and nobody else,” explains frontman Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick. “At this point in our career, myself and the band feel we have complete creative license. Because, c’mon, nobody knows what the rules are anymore. So I’m not going to chase some vapor in the wind. I’m going to just do what I want.”
“We’ve never wanted to be stuck in a box. We refused to do that,” adds co-lead vocalist Noelle Scaggs. “With this project, we’re daring to be different.”
Ahead of the title track’s release, the band gave fans an early taste of the album with March’s surprise drop, “Ruin The Night.” Both songs feature animated visualizers from Argentinian artist Kidmograph, with more to come as the band builds out a full four-part visual series.
